BINIGYANG-DIIN ni Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito ang mahalagang papel ng mga barangay health worker (BHWs) sa komunidad habang ini-sponsor niya ang Senate Bill No. 2838 o ang Magna Carta ng Barangay Health Workers.
Sinabi ni Ejercito na tinukoy niya ang papel ng mga BHW sa pamamagitan ng pagtatakda ng mga parameter sa kanilang tungkulin sa paghahatid ng pangunahing pangangalagang pangkalusugan sa kanilang komunidad. Aniya, sa ilalim ng panukalang batas, mapoprotektahan ang mga BHW mula sa hindi sinasadyang paggawa ng mga gawain na higit sa kanilang mga tungkulin at tungkulin.
“Our BHWs are living proofs of selflessness and unconditional love for our people and country. The communities they are serving have become a huge extended family—though not related by blood but linked by kindness,” sinabi ni Ejercito sa kanyang sponsorship speech nitong Miyerkules, Setyembre 25, 2024.
“Our BHWs are the extension of the Department of Health in our communities. We can also say that they fill in the gaps in health services. They also showed heroism during the pandemic where they served as frontliners in their barangays. So Mr. President, it is only reasonable that we repay their kindness,” dagdag pa niya.
