NILAGDAAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Proclamation No. 1318 na nagpapatawag ng special session ng Kongreso sa Hunyo 17, 2026 para sa agarang pagtalakay ng priority measures para sa social protection, edukasyon, kalusugan, at iba pang mahahalagang programa. Ipinatupad ito nitong Lunes, Hunyo 15, 2026.
“The challenges confronting our people demand urgent action. Families affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao require immediate assistance. Students need continued support to pursue their education. Our senior citizens deserve better healthcare. Our children must have better nutrition and vulnerable sectors need stronger protection,” sabi ng Pangulo.
“The needs of the Filipino people do not pause when Congress is not in session. The government must continue to respond, and the welfare of every Filipino must remain our highest priority,” dagdag pa niya.
Ipinatawag din ni Marcos ang espesyal na sesyon upang mabigyang-daan ang pagpupulong ng Commission on Appointments (CA) at aksyunan ang mga itinalaga sa Gabinete, militar, at foreign service.
Nakasaad sa Section 15, Article VI ng 1987 Constitution, na may kapangyarihan ang Pangulo na magpatawag ng special session anumang oras upang tugunan ang mga usapin na nangangailangan ng agarang aksiyo ng mga mambabatas.
