ITINUTURING ngayon ang mga integrated resort bilang pangunahing puwersa sa muling pagbangon ng turismo at ekonomiya ng bansa, ayon kay Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) Chairman at CEO Alejandro Tengco nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 24.
Sa kanyang talumpati sa Exceed Hospitality 2025 forum sa SMX Aura sa Taguig City, sinabi ni Tengco na ang mga integrated resort ay hindi lang basta mga pasugalan kundi mga “dynamic lifestyle and business hubs” na nagbibigay-buhay sa turismo at lumilikha ng maraming oportunidad para sa pag-unlad.
“Gaming, entertainment, and hospitality are not separate worlds but interconnected forces that drive growth, create jobs, and enrich the tourism experience,” ani Tengco sa harap ng mga tourism stakeholders, negosyante, opisyal ng gobyerno, at miyembro ng Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines.
Batay sa industry data, patuloy ang pag-angat ng gaming at entertainment sector, na nagtala ng gross gaming revenues na tumaas sa $6.5 bilyon noong 2024 mula sa $3.75 bilyon noong 2022 o 75% na pagtaas sa loob lamang ng dalawang taon.
Para mapanatili ang momentum, sinabi ni Tengco na tuloy-tuloy ang modernisasyon ng mga patakaran at operasyon ng Pagcor habang sinisiguro na sumusunod ang mga operator sa prinsipyo ng responsible, transparent, at sustainable gaming.
Kabilang sa mga hakbang ng ahensya ang mas pinaigting na kampanya laban sa illegal gambling, mas mahigpit na regulasyon sa gaming advertisements, at pagbabawal sa promosyon ng sugal sa mga pampublikong lugar at primetime hours.
“At Pagcor, responsible gaming is not just a slogan but a commitment to protect the vulnerable, uphold transparency, and preserve public trust,” dagdag pa ni Tengco.
Hinimok din ng Pagcor chief ang mga nasa gaming, tourism, at hospitality sector na isulong ang digital transformation at sustainability, alinsunod sa tema ng forum na “Tourism Rewired. Hospitality Transformed.”
“The future of hospitality is being reshaped by technology and sustainability,” aniya.
“We must ensure that every guest experience also contributes to local well-being.”
Dagdag pa niya, hangarin ng ahensya na hindi lamang magpatupad ng mga regulasyon kundi maging katuwang din sa pagsusulong ng responsableng pag-unlad.
“Our collective success depends on finding balance between progress and preservation, profit and purpose,” wika pa ni G. Tengco. “Together, we can build destinations that are not only profitable but also meaningful and inspiring.”
