UPANG mapahusay ang communication efforts at itaguyod ang mga prinsipyo ng Open Government Partnership (OGP), nagtatag ng strategic partnership ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM), sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Kalihim Amenah “Mina” Pangandaman, kasama ang mga pangunahing Filipino media organizations.
Kabilang sa partners ang Presidential Communications Office (PCO), The Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, Inquirer Interactive Inc., DZRH Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC), at Digital Out-of-Home Philippines (DOOH PH).
Ang hakbang na ito ay bahagi ng paghahanda para sa Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) na inoorganisa ng Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP).
“Since President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr. appointed me to lead the DBM, aligning our national fiscal policies with the principles of open government has been one of our foremost advocacies. Sa Bagong Pilipinas, gusto ng ating mahal na Pangulo na pagbutihin pa ang trabaho ng gobyerno para mas maayos at mas mabuting mapagsilbihan ang bawat Pilipino. Ang sagot sa hamong ito ay open governance,” paliwanag ni Secretary Mina.
Binigyang-diin pa ng Budget Secretary ang mahalagang papel ng media na tinawag niya bilang “co-architects” sa misyon na palawakin ang saklaw ng open government principles.
“You [ang media] ensure these principles are not confined to closed rooms but are broadcast across various mediums, reaching every corner of our region. Through your lenses, through your words, we connect with the public, garner support, and most importantly, ensure accountability,” aniya.
Ginanap ang ceremonial signing ng Memorandum of Agreement sa DBM Central Office, Boncodin Hall, bilang isang mahalagang hakbang sa pangako ng administrasyon sa transparency at inclusive governance.
Dagdag pa rito, bilang bahagi ng mga kasunduan ng pagpirma, ang SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. (SMAC) ay itinalaga bilang opisyal na transportation service provider para sa OGP-APRM, na magtitiyak ng tuluy-tuloy na mobility para sa delegates ng APRM.
Dumalo ang mga senior official mula sa bawat partner organization, kabilang sina PCO Senior Undersecretary Emerald Anne Ridao, Manila Bulletin Publisher at EVP Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr., Inquirer Interactive Inc. COO Imelda Alcantara, DZRH MBC VP for AM Operations Atty. Rudolph Steve Jularbal, DOOH PH CEO Alvin Carranza, at SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. (BMW Philippines) President Spencer Yu.
Nakatakdang ganapin ang nalalapit na OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting sa Pebrero 5-7, 2025, sa Grand Ballroom ng Grand Hyatt Hotel. Ito ang kauna-unahang major regional OGP meeting sa Pilipinas mula noong 2017. Ang event na ito ay magtitipon ng mga high-level government representatives, civil society leaders, policymakers, at global at regional partners. Layon nitong maging isang dynamic platform para sa palitan ng mga best practices at karanasan, na magpapalakas ng open government initiatives sa buong rehiyon.
