SINABI ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na marami pang kaso ang isasampa laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte kaugnay ng insidenteng naganap sa pagkakakulong ng kanyang chief of staff na si Zuleika Lopez sa House of Representatives.
Sinampahan na ng PNP ng direct assault, disobedience, at grave coercion ang bise presidente, ang hepe ng Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG), si Col. Raymund Dante Lachica, at ilang John Does.
Pero sinabi ng tagapagsalita ng PNP na si Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo sa isang panayam sa radyo na hindi niya masasabi kung ano pa ang mga kasong isasampa laban kay Duterte.
Sinabi ng PNP na ang mga aksyon ng mga tauhan ni Duterte ay nakasagabal sa detention order na inilabas ng Kamara.
Iniutos na ikulong si Lopez matapos siyang ma-contempt dahil sa pagtanggi niyang sagutin ang mga tanong sa pagdinig ng Kamara kung paano ginasta ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) ang confidential at intelligence funds nito.
Sinabi ng PNP na ginulo ng mga tauhan ng bise presidente ang operasyon sa House detention facility at sa Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).
Sinabi ng pulisya na may kinalaman ang mga tauhan ng VPSPG sa “forced transfer” ni Lopez mula sa VMMC patungo sa St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Sinabi ni Duterte na magsasampa siya ng countercharges laban sa PNP para sa pagsuway, pagnanakaw at pagkidnap.
Mariing nilinaw ni PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil na hindi politically motivated ang mga kaso.
“The PNP remains committed to its mandate to enforce the law without fear or favor. The filing of cases against any individual, regardless of status or political affiliation, is a reflection of our duty to the Constitution and the Filipino people,” sabi ni Marbil.
“If we do not file cases against those accused, what will people say? Takot ang pulis, pangmahirap lang ang pangil ng batas? We cannot allow such perceptions to take root. Our duty is to apply the law to everyone, regardless of their standing, because justice is not selective,” sabi niya.
Dagdag pa ni Marbil: “We have seen how inaction, or selective application of the law, undermines public trust — like the ‘tokhang’ criticisms of the previous administration, where victims were perceived to be predominantly from the poor. We refuse to let history repeat itself.”
Sinabi niya na ang legal na prinsipyong “Dura lex, sed lex” — ang batas ay maaaring malupit, ngunit ito ang batas —”guides us in our work. As law enforcers, we cannot choose whom to apply the law to or make exceptions based on affiliations or relationships. Our mandate is to protect and serve all people equally, without prejudice or discrimination.”
